Fine Dining in York

As we look forward to an easing of lockdown restrictions in the near future, we also look forward to the re-opening of the York restaurant scene. In this article, we focus on fine dining experiences in York and a few of our recommendations.

Fine dining restaurants are full-service restaurants with specific dedicated meal courses. The décor of these restaurants features higher-quality materials, with establishments having certain rules of dining which visitors are generally expected to follow, sometimes including a dress code.

Le Cochon Aveugle

Based in Walmgate, this is a lovely small restaurant that has a constantly evolving tasting menu. Great for those who love variety and intend on returning to the city.

Using classical French techniques, they serve a contemporary European menu. Chef Josh Overington  leads a team from the open plan kitchen. The restaurant focuses on a more casual fine dining experience combined with the produce from selected farmers. With a wine list featuring over 200 wines, you’ll certainly be spoilt for choice!

Roots York

A Michelin starred restaurant that is sister to the Black Swan restaurant in Oldstead with an ethos based around seasonality and sustainability. The restaurant has a modern décor which blends with the period features of the building.

The tasting menus change frequently depending on the availability of ingredients from the kitchen garden, small regional suppliers and even the owners’ parents’ farm. The dishes are modern with an element of creativity. It features a large wine list that are all available by the glass!

Arras Restaurant

This is a former coach house that has a bright, modern interior and features an enclosed terrace to the rear. Known for its excellent selection of cheeses which are presented on a handmade oak trolley these are an excellent accompaniment with a glass of red wine.

Little Arras, just a short walk from the restaurant opened serves locals and tourists alike with the famous Arras Sourdough, Pastries, Cakes and Square Mile Coffee.

We’ll be featuring more of our favourite restuarants soon!
